After the Mon Ngo Royal Project began for promoting temperate crops such as Miang tea leaves and lychees, villagers in Village No. 5 expanded into avocado cultivation.
Several farmers grow variety of avocado including Hass, Pinkerton, Peterson, Boot7, and Buccaneer.
Avocados grown in Mae Taeng are considered high-value cash crops, an average yielding 835 kg per rai per year with the harvest season from July to February. The average selling price is around 37 THB per kilogram.
Fresh avocados of various varieties (Hass, Boot7, Pinkerton, Peterson, etc.) are available directly from the farm, with both retail and wholesale options:
Retail price: ~60 THB/kg
Wholesale: 10 kg for ~250 THB
Additionally, Persimmons are grown nearby and bear fruit in late year reflecting the diversity of agricultural produce in the region.
